Death Of Jawan In Kolkata Increases ‘Nipah’ Scare


Kolkata: A jawan named Simu Prasad who recently posted in Fort William allegedly died of Nipah virus on Wednesday.

According to sources, Simu Prasad is the resident of Kerala. And he came to Kolkata with high fever. Simu admitted to the hospital on 20th May and doctors declared dead on 25th May.

According to the primary investigation, Nipah virus was found in his body. The deceased soldier’s blood samples have been sent to the National Institute of Virology in Pune, which is the only agency in the country to certify whether it was a case of Nipah virus.

The recent outbreak of Nipah has claimed many lives in Kerala and has caused a public health scare all across.
