Darryl Alexander Duffy To Play Mohun Bagan

Kolkata: Mohun Bagan have signed English football Darryl Alexander Duffy for 2016-17 football season. Duffy is previously played for Salgaocar FC in three editions of I-League, and he was awarded as the joint winner of Golden Boot in the year 2013-14, netting 14 goals for Salgaocar and also won the FPAI Foreign Player of the Year Award in 2014.

He has been Salgaocar’s top scorer in every year since he marked his arrival to India. Before joining Indian Football he was an established name in English football, having played for Glasgow Rangers in Scottish Premier League and Swansea in the English Championship from thereon have represented numerous sides in Scottish First Division and English League Leagues. During his days in Scottish Premier League he was awarded with Young Player of the Year.

Duffy also played for FC Goa in the second edition of the Indian Super league in 2015. He has also represented Scotland B in Future Cup played against Poland and Turkey. On joining Mohun Bagan Darryl Duffy said “I am very glad to be coming to a club which has won the I League and the Federation Cup in the last two seasons. I hope I can do my best here and help them continue to win titles. I have played in Kolkata but it will be a great challenge playing for a club in Kolkata as I love the passion of the fans there. I am looking forward to arriving with my family in Kolkata as soon as possible”.

Head Coach Sanjoy Sen said; “Since my days as United Sports Coach I had an eye on the Scottish striker, last two seasons he was in good form and had a consistent scoring record at Salgaocar FC, the kind of football Mohun Bagan Team displays Duffy’s addition will add more flare to it.”
