Darjeeling Unrest: 5000 TMC Workers Join GNLF


Darjeeling:  The political crisis in the Darjeeling Hills took a new turn on Sunday with the joining of nearly 5000 TMC workers along with the Trade Union (INTTUC) leader with Morcha (GNLF).

Meanwhile, fresh tensions have spread from the morning in Darjeeling  police and army are patrolling the area.   New DIG of Darjeeling  Humayun Kabir visits the village of Singermi.  Trinamool Congress has tried desperately to capture the hills since coming to power. Mirik municipality has also been captured under the leadership of Trinamool Supremo Mamata Banerjee.

But  on Sunday the rulling party  collapsed on hills when 5000 TMC workers along with the leader of INTTUC joined GNLF.  On this issue the former TMC trade union leader said that ‘Violence can never be compromised.’ Morcha supporters set fire on a bus at Hillcrest Road on the way to Siliguri. At the same time, despite the besieging the police station,the Morcha supporters also  protested.

Yesterday Police arrested a septuagenarian woman , protest were shown on this day for her release.  Humayun Kabir has been brought to the rank of DIG in the Darjeeling Range to meet the hill problem. He has joined this post on this day. And his first visit was at Singhari area.
