New Delhi: Dane Lloyd Pereira, right footed Mumbai FC midfielder, is banned from playing professional football until further notice as he failed the dope test during the course of Hero I-League 2014-15. Pereira has tested positive in a dope test conducted by NADA i.e. National Anti Doping Agency.
This comes after another former Mumbai FC player, Nishant Mehra who was banned for 2 years for testing posting for tetrahydrocannabinol in June, 2011. Former Mahindra United defender, Arun Malhotra was the first high profile footballer int he country to be banned after he failed a test in 2002, thereby being stopped from joining his team for the Asian Games in Busan.
Pereira had also turned out for Chennaiyin FC in the Indian Super League where he made two appearances.
