Kolkata: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee today announced 15 per cent hike in dearness allowance of state government employees from next January.
A conference was held with the state Government employee at Kolkata’s Nazrul Mancha where she declared that from January onwards the DA has been hiked by 15%.
As per State Government Employees organization, the percentage of due DA amount is 54% but as the CM on Thursday reduced the percentage upto 15 % now the percentage stands 39%.
A portion of state government employee has already registered a case against it at the High Court. As per their demands, there is a huge difference between the DA of central government and State Government. This difference created anger among the state government employees. To maintain the differences perhaps Banerjee declared about the reduction of DA on Thursday.
This hike in dearness allowance will cost the state exchequer an additional Rs 4,500 crore, Banerjee said.
Earlier the state Government has also raised its employees’ bonus by Rs. 200 and salary advance by Rs. 1000.
The advance for the employees drawing salary greater than Rs 26,000/- p.m lesser than Rs 36000/-p.m, which was Rs. 4000/- last year has been raised to Rs. 5000/-.
The bonus for the employees drawing salary lesser than Rs 26,000/p.m which was Rs. 3400/- last year has been raised to Rs 3600/-.
