Cyclone FANI To Hit West Bengal On Friday Evening


Kolkata: According to Alipore Meteorological Department, Cyclone FANI will enter the state on Friday evening by increasing the speed. FANI was turning towards Bengal on Friday night.

Due to the effect of the FANI, heavy rains with storm can hit in the Gangetic coastal districts of West Bengal at a speed of 50 to 60 kilometers. Which will continue till the 5th May. On this day, heavy rainfall will occur between 70 and 110 mm in East and West Midnapore and North 24 Parganas.

Cyclone Fani moved closer, the West Bengal government sounded an alert in coastal East Midnapore and South 24 Parganas districts, asking tourists to leave seaside destinations and directing fishermen not to venture into the sea. All tourists advised to leave Digha, West Bengal by 12 noon today.

Relief operation by NDRF (National Disaster Response Force) is underway in Kotturu Mandal of Srikakulam which received rain and experienced strong winds after Cyclone Fani made landfall in Odisha.

Severe cyclonic storm Fani is approaching and becoming more powerful every minute. High alert has already been sounded in West Bengal and Odisha. The WB administration have taken special measures and have put Kolkata andother coastal areas on high alert. A control room has been opened in Kolkata Municipal Corporation. Nabanna has ordered to work in an emergency like situation if any untoward situation arises.
