Cyclone Fani: Mamata’s Campaign Rally Re-Scheduled


Kolkata: Cyclone Fani is very likely to move north-northeastwards and cross the Odisha coast between Gopalpur and Chandbali, around Puri during the afternoon of 3 May with maximum sustained wind speed of 170-180 kmph, gusting to 200 kmph.

The tourists are being brought back. Several trains have been canceled. Besides, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s election campaign has been postponed due to this cyclone.

According to sources, on May 2, three election rallies will be held by Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. The Chief Minister is scheduled to visit Chandrakona by helicopter from Kolkata on Friday. Mamata’s election rally has been cut off after the weather office predicted the cyclone Fani. These three public meetings of the Chief Minister will start as early as possible . Because she will go to Kharagpur on Thursday after the three public meetings.

A red alert has been sounded in Srikakulam district of north coastal Andhra Pradesh Wednesday as heavy rains with winds gusting up to 120 kmph are likely under the influence of the extremely severe cyclonic storm Fani.
