The two-time Olympic medallist Sushil Kumar needed just one minute and twenty seconds to wrap up the gold medal match against South Africa’s Johannes Botha at Commonwealth Games 2018 in Gold Coast on Thursday.
Sushil, who won his third consecutive CWG gold medal, raced to a 10-0 lead and clinched the match by technical superiority.
Earlier in the day, the defending champion in the men’s 74 kg freestyle category, overpowered Jevon Balfour of Canada by technical superiority to enter the quarter-finals.
Another technical superiority verdict over Muhammad Asad Butt of Pakistan propelled him into the semi-finals where he overpowered Australia’s Connor Evans by fall in the very first round.
Sushil won gold in the now disbanded 66 kg category at the 2010 edition in New Delhi before winning the 74 kg title at the 2014 CWG in Glasgow, Scotland.
