Customs & Police Seized Drugs Worth Rs 15 Lacs From NH

Burdwan: Police and custom department busted a major racket of drug smuggling. This success came in joint operation of Asansol and Burdwan customs officials on Friday. A drug smuggler also nabbed.

According to police and customs sources, police had a preliminary information of this drug racket that they are going to smuggle huge amount of drugs in a truck through the East and West Burdwan route. Therefore a special search operation was started by the police on Friday. They detained a truck on the national highway at Darjeeling crossing near Durgapur and recovered large quantity of powder form opium. Which is also called Dodo.

The weight of the Dodo recovered was 7 quintals 50 kg Whose market value is nearly 15 lakh rupees.These were hidden behind rice bags.The truck driver Yashvir Sinke was immediately arrested by the customs official. Later, he was handed over to the police. The police questioned Yashvir. After the initial investigation, it was reported that the drug was being imported from Dubrajpur in Birbhum to it’s final destination in Punjab. However, police assumes that there is also possibilities of big head involved in this case. The police are now searching them.
