CU’s violence unwanted and shameful: Vice Chancellor


Kolkata:  The Vice Chancellor of the Calcutta University, Prof. Suranjan Das has termed the clashes between TMCP supporters and the WBCUTA members as an unwanted and shameful incident inside the premises of the prestigeous institution.

Coming out of the office of Education Minister Partha Chatterjee after submitting a report on yesterday’s incident, the Vice Chancellor said that though he was heckled inside the campus, he didn’t feel that it was intentional.

He also added that it was not correct to talk about the incident before submitting the report.

in this context, the eminent educationist and former vice Chancellor of VidyaSagar University, Prof. Anandadeb Mukhopadhaya said that the law and order situation in the premises of an University is under full responsibility of the Vice Chancellor. Anandadeb babu stressed that he thought Prof. Das has failed to perform his specific duties.

On the other hand, the move of the Vice Chancellor to speak about the incident openly has been welcomed by various education circles of the state.
