Raipur: A CRPF jawan committed suicide on Wednesday by shooting himself with his service weapon at a paramilitary camp in Chhattisgarh’s Bijapur district, police said.
“Constable Pavitra Yadav (44) belonging to 168th battalion of Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) ended his life by shooting himself with his service rifle early this morning,” Bijapur Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Indira Kalyan Elesela said.
“At the time of the incident, the jawan was on duty at the camp located beside old jail in the Bijapur town,” he added. When his colleagues heard the gunshot they rushed to the spot and found Yadav lying in a pool of blood. He was rushed to a local hospital where the doctor declared him dead.
