Bolpur: Lashing out at the CPM, West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee on Monday said that CPM is jealous of the developmental work in the state and has resorted to dirty politics.
Mamata, addressing the gathering at Baul festival in Kenduli, Birbhum also attacked the NDA government at Centre from chocking the state’s funds.
Replying to oppositions cry on her generous grants to various clubs at a time when the state is reeling under a severe financial crunch, Mamata said, “I will fund the clubs 100 times, who is there to prevent me.”
With the assistance of the State Government, over one thousand Baul singers under the State Lokprasar Prakalpa performed in a chorus today.
The biggest attraction of Kenduli’s Joydev Mela is that it features tradition folk culture with performances mainly by the Baul community. The Mela has been promoted nationally and internationally by the State Tourism Department.
Incidentally, Bauls of Bengal – an integral part of the heritage of the State – will be showcased by the State Government at the Republic Day parade at Rajpath in New Delhi.
