CPM Cadres Released On Bail, Protests To Continue


Kolkata: Alipore court premises saw raging protest and blockade by CPM cadres on Saturday when CPM’s Sujan Chakraborty and other party leaders were produced before the court. Chakraborty said before entering the court that they will again deny bail pleas. However, the unconditional bail pleas have been accepted by Sujon, Kanti Ganguly and hundreds of CPM cadres.

They were detained on Friday owing to the protests over the Bhangar violence in front of the Bengal Summit venue. They were kept in police custody when they denied opting for bail.

He alleged that TMC has claimed several lives of the farmers and weakened the industry prospects in the state. The other leaders also said that the state government has no right to stay in power and demanded their ousting.

The police was finding it difficult to handle the chaos on Saturday. They are protesting over the death of 2 at Bhangar in West Bengal a few days ago. Later, a protest was staged at Parama island. A tussle was also being reported among the protestors and the police.

TMC retaliated with a rally on Saturday over  Power minister Sovandeb Chattopadhyay’s alleged harassment and also raised issues over the ruckus in front the Bengal summit venue which saw a footfall of 3000 delegates.
