Englishbazaar: Two cattle smugglers from Bangladesh were shot dead on Monday in India-Bangladesh border in Malda.
The incident took place at India-Bangladesh border under the Habibpur police station in Malda for trespassing into the Indian Territory. As per sources, Jawans of the No. 42 battalion were on duty when they were trying to break fences and trying to enter into the Indian Territory. The BSF Jawans on duty were attacked when they tried to stop the smugglers from entering. The jawans retaliated and shot them dead.
The dead bodies of the smugglers have been sent to the Malda Medical College and Hospital for post-mortem. As per the BSF, the deceased were residents of Bangladesh. They were involved in the smuggling of cows. Though, their identities are yet to be made known as per BSF official P.R. Sarkar.
