Court stays arrest warrant against MP Prasun Banerjee

Kolkata: Barasat court has stayed the arrest warrant of Trinamool MP Prasun Banerjee over allegations of slapping an on duty police constable near Lake Town foot bridge in Kolkata.

The court had issued an arrest warrant against the parliamentarian and he was directed to appear at Barasat court within 17 July.

The MP had assaulted the Police constable when he stopped his car which was breaking the traffic rules on 14 January this year. A case was filed by Bidhannagar Police Commissionerate on the basis of the statement of the constable although the MP has dismissed all the allegations leveled against him.
