Connection between state and Sikkim disconnected due to landslide

Kalimpong: The National Highway 31 near Kalimpong has been closed down due to landslide. This has resulted in the disruption of the road connection between West Bengal and Sikkim. All the vehicles bound for Kalimpong has stuck on the roads resulting in massive traffic snarl in the area.

The National Highway Authority of India and the Border Roads Organization have started mending the road to normalize traffic.

This is the third time in this year that roads have have been closed down due to landslides. A few days back, the Darjeeling toy train services were disrupted due to slides. The tourism industry is also suffering a loss due to the slides.
