Kolkata: ‘Congress Barta’, the mouthpiece of West Bengal Pradesh Congress published a special issue after it remained shut for several days.
Pradesh Congress president Somen Mitra published the issue named ‘Shatabarsha periye Indira’ on Monday on the birth anniversary of Indira Gandhi. The party informed that ‘Congress Barta’ will be published regularly from now on.
According to Vidhan Sabha sources, the mouthpiece was not published for over two years during the tenure of Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury as the chief and Panihati municipal councillor Sanmay Banerjee was the executive editor of the mouthpiece.
During Adhir’s time, the mouthpiece used to be published in the name of ‘Pradesh Congress Barta.’ Chaos had erupted in Vidhan Bhawan over the change of the name of the party mouthpiece.
According to Somen Mitra and his team, the paper was registered in the name of ‘Congress Barta.’ Hence, from now onwards, the publication will be published in this name.
According to sources, people close to Adhir, who were a part of the mouthpiece, have been removed. Ashok Bhattacharya can become the executive editor, taking Sanmay Banerjee’s place.
