Congress demands Rabi Chatterjee’s exclusion as MLA

Kolkata: Being in the chair as a Congress MLA, Katwa’s Rabindtranath Chatterjee had joined the Trinamool Congress. Reacting to this shift the Congress Legislative Party has decided to reject Chatterjee from the MLA seat. They argued on the basis of the Anti Defection Law. Their point was if Rabindranath Chatterjee had resigned from his MLA seat and then joined in TMC, there would not have been any question. But as he joined in the ruling party and simultaneously held his Cong MLA seat in the Vidhan Sabha, his MLA-ship became a issue of the Anti Defection Law and have decided to bring the matter to the Speaker of the Assembly in the following week.

A few days back, Rabindranath Chatterjee Chatterjee, 10 other councillors, some of the panchayat members and a few other party workers had joined the TMC bringing a huge blow to the Katwa wing of the Congress
