New Delhi: The chief ministers of the nine Congress-led states have skipped the Niti Aayog meeting convened by Prime Minister Narendra Modi at his official 7, Race Course Road residence on Wednesday.
The meeting, which will be chaired by the Prime Minister, will reportedly examine the Land Acquisition Bill. The chief ministers of every state are a part of the body’s governing council. However, along with Congress CMs, West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee and Uttar Pradesh CM Akhilesh Yadav have also given the meet a miss.
With Parliament’s monsoon session set to begin next Monday, the Congress boycott of the meeting is indicative of the party’s plans as it gears to corner the Modi government on various fronts including Lalitgate, Vyapam scam apart from the land bill. On Tuesday, senior Congress leaders met at party president Sonia Gandh’s residence to discuss their strategy.
