Kolkata:The Trinamool Congress (TMC) on Sunday had hit back at the Congress for criticizing West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and said that the former ruling party at the Centre should get down to some serious work and prove themselves again. “The Trinamool Congress has three political rivals in Bengal – Congress, BJP and CPI (M). Having said that, we are running a state government here and there is a Central Government so that is a different relationship. And we don’t need to react to everything what the Congress Party says. Today we are being very generous and in all humility we are reacting,” TMC spokesperson Derek O’Brien said.
“After May 2014, Congress should put some leucoplast on its lips, get down to some serious work, let them prove themselves again like how Mamata di has done again and again. I don’t want them to give some free advice, but the people will then bless them like they have blessed Mamata di and Trinamool,” he added. The TMC’s reaction came hours after Congress leader Jairam Ramesh alleged that Prime Minister Narendra Modi and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee were ‘two sides of a coin’ as they were both ‘dictatorial’.
“Modi and Mamata are two sides of a coin, both are dictatorial,” he said presenting a report card on the BJP Government’s one year in power at the Centre.”When he came to power, Modi had talked of maximum governance and minimum government, but just one year later we find it is maximum arrogance and one-man government……This is a mirror image of the situation in Bengal and that is why they (Prime Minister Modi and Mamata) are together,” he added.
