Kolkata: Congress leader Soumen Mitra will meet the fasting students of Calcutta Medical College & Hospital on Monday. He is supposed to meet the students around 12 pm.
On the other hand, to bring changes in the ongoing situation Sujan Chakraborty wrote to Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.
Monday will step on the 14th consecutive day of the hunger strike. Many of them losing their physical strength. Sujan Chakraborty mentioned in the letter to Mamata Banerjee, “You can visit who have been injured in tent collapse case. Medical College students are fasting for 13 days but you couldn’t find time to meet them. This is quite strange.”
Meanwhile BJP leader Mukul Roy has sent letter to Union Health Minister J P Nadda ands MCI president Jayasree Mehta.
The hunger strike going for 13 days for the transparent allocation of students in the new hostel. The continuous fasting has detoriated the health condition. One among them is in serious condition and admitted to hospital. A convention in support of the students has been arranged in support of the students where many intellectuals, students, teachers, many known faces were there.
Former student of Calcutta Medical College and director Kamaleshwar Mukherjee, Koushik Sen, Arunava Ghosh, Bikashranjan Bhattacharyya, Kabir Suman were present. They have urged for chief moinister Mamata Banerjee’s intervention to resolve the situation.
He said, ” I could have join the hunger strike too but that will arise controversies. But I feel for them so i am here. Mamata please come here and look at them. They are our child.”
A mass petition will be submitted to CM Mamata Banerjee and governor Kesharinath Tripathi on Monday. Many former students who were present in the convention said, if petition doesn’t work they will also join the hunger strike. All have come to a decision to file a PIL against state government. Lawyer Arunava Ghosh has stressed on the point specifically.
