Srinagar: A complete shutdown is being observed on the second consecutive day on
Monday against the attempts to abrogate special status of Jammu and Kashmir.
Public transport remained off the roads and very few private vehicles were seen plying in Srinagar city and other district towns in the Valley. Government forces have been deployed in strength at vulnerable places in the city and elsewhere in Kashmir to maintain law and order.
Various organizations including Bar Association, traders ‘and transport bodies have extended their support to the JRL’s shutdown call.
The Srinagar-Banihal train services have been suspended across Kashmir, keeping in view of the shutdown call. “We have suspended all trains between Srinagar-Budgam-in
central Kashmir to Baramulla in north Kashmir on Monday,” a Railway official said.
Similarly, no train will chug on Budgam-Srinagar-Islamabad-Qazigund in south Kashmir and Banihal in Jammu region.
