Commuters suffer as DTC driver goes on strike


New Delhi: Hundreds of commuters were hit hard in Delhi on Monday as DTC union went on strike to protest against the killing of a driver by a biker in an incident of road rage.

A DTC bus driver was beaten to death in broad daylight allegedly by a 22-year-old as passengers looked on after the bus grazed his bike in Mundka area of west Delhi on Sunday. The accused, identified as Vijay, a resident of Mundka, was arrested on Sunday night.

Most of the Delhi Transport Corporation’s 4,705 buses went off the roads, with hundreds of drivers and conductors massing at the 45 depots spread across the city, shouting slogans.
