Commuters face the heat of religious procession in city


Kolkata: Daily commuters faced the heat of traffic congestion in the city due to procession of the religious groups. Various parts of the metro including Mahatma Gandhi Road, Brabourn road, Rabindra Sarani, BB Ganguly street, Rabindra Sarani, Bentinck Street, Jawaharlal Nehru road, Strand Road came to a standstill. Many vehicles including the Buses, Minibuses, Tram and Taxis were stranded on the roads.

According to Lalbazar, due to the procession of Jains in the city the traffic from MG Road and CR Avenue was stopped to give way to the procession. After the procession started arriving at around 1 Pm, SN Banerjee Road, Lenin Sarani, Jawaharlal Nehru Road, Bentinck Street, Nirmal Chandra De Street and GC Avenue were blocked.
