Coal Scam:Apex Court defers Manmohan hearing till July 15

New Delhi: A special court has fixed July 15 for hearing the coal scam case in which the Supreme Court had on 1 April stayed the summons issued against former Prime Minister Manmohan singh, industrialist Kumar Mangalam Birla and others.

Special CBI Judge Bharat Parashar, who had on March 11 summoned Singh and others as accused, deferred the hearing, observing that the operations of the order passed by him have been stayed by the apex court.”In terms of order dated April 1, 2015 of the Supreme Court, the operation of orders dated December 16, 2014 and March 11, 2015 have been stayed. Accordingly, the matter will be now put up on 15 July,” the judge said.

The special court had on December 16, last year refused to accept the CBI’s closure report filed in the case and had directed the agency to further investigate the matter and examine Manmohan Singh and other PMO officials.
