New Delhi: Indian Army carried out a series of surgical strikes in seven terror launch pads in Pakistan Occupied Kashmir late on Wednesday night. Indian commandos entered three kilometres across the Line of Control to conduct the ‘surgical strikes’. Around 40 terrorists and 3 Pakistani soldiers were reportedly killed in the strikes.
Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti on Thursday voiced grave concern over the escalation of situation along the borders and warned that confrontation could lead to a “disaster of epic proportions” for the state. She has called for a high level meet on the India’s retaliation through surgical strikes.
Modi was Informed President Pranab Mukherjee, Jammu Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti and former Premier Mahmohan Singh among others.
Post the announcement, Home Minister Rajnath Singh held an all party meet, where he briefed leaders of various parties. Earlier, he had informed Chief Ministers of West Bengal, Odisha, Punjab, Bihar and other states about the strikes.
“For the people of Jammu and Kashmir, peace along the borders and within the mainland is of immense significance and I hope the political leadership of the two countries would also treat it with the same spirit,” she said.
