Kolkata: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee finalized the formation of the health controller commission and also announced the details of the members of the commission at a press conference at Nabanna on Friday.
CM Mamata announced that Asim Kumar Roy would head the 11-member health controller commission. Asim Kumar Roy who is currently the judge of Kolkata High Court has been made the chairman of the Health Controller Commission. It was also announced that if he refuses to take the post then Anil Verma, who is presently in charge of the vice-chairman post, would head the commission.
The commission which has been set up for probing into health related issues consists mainly of doctors. The commission thus consists of Dr. Gopal Krishna Dhali, Avijit Chowdhury, Dr. Makhanlal Saha, Dr. Sukumar Mukherjee, Dr. Madhusudan Banerjee, Sanghamitra Ghosh and many more. The commission also would consist of representatives of the police, consumer forum and nurses, Madhabi Das.
The commission would consist of police officers like Anuj Sharma and Prabin Tripathi. Prabin Tripathi would be representing the police force. The CM also announced that no political members have been included in the commission.
CM Mamata said that this newly set health commission would help people further in the future. She also requested the people to file complaint if they face any ill treatment. Each district will have CMH, where districts people can file their complaints against any negligence on the treatment.
While taking to the media CM Mamata also said that giving treatment to patients and promoting business are totally different, and it cannot be compared. She also added that the state government provides sufficient treatment for the people which other private hospitals fails to provide. She also pledged other states to follow the setting up of a similar commission.
