Kolkata: Chief minister Mamata Banerjee made a big announcement on the residents of the refugee colony, in the administrative meeting at Nadia on Thursday.
Those people of the refugee colony, who are scattered throughout the state will from now on get ownership of the land and the right of ownership. This will help at least 1.5 crore people. With this announcement, the refugee colony residents are happy.
During the programme, the CM wanted to know from the chief of the Land and Land Reforms department that how many refugee colonies are there in government land and asked whether any survey was done. The chief said that all the districts were asked to submit a report on this by Thursday itself. After this, it was instructed that all the refugee colonies in the government land should be ‘regularised’ so that the residents can stay there with their ownership.
It needs mention that those refugee colonies which have grown up in railway land or land by central agencies, these residents will also be given ownership rights and on this the state has already sent a letter in Delhi. On this, the CM asked Chief Secretary Moloy Dey to communicate with the Centre on this issue. If needed then she instructed him to again write a letter to the Centre.
