Kolkata: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee conducted an immediate meeting with health department officials after receiving the reports of the Apollo probe on Friday.
The immediate meeting called by the CM points out to presume that the state government is on their way to adopt strict measures against Apollo Gleaneagles Hospitals. The six member committee set up by the health department submitted their report to the CM.
Soon after receiving the report, CM Mamata Banerjee presided over an important meeting with the Chief Secretary of State, Health Secretary and other health officials for one and half hours. As per sources, the possible steps to be taken against Apollo, the probable sections based on which the case would be files were all discussed in the meeting.
The reports mentions of major negligence on part of the hospital in their treatment on Sanjay Roy. It has also been alleged that Apollo has used fake documents in order to increase their bill. The report clearly states that Sanjay Roy was given excessive sleeping pills. The investigating team also pointed out in the report that the hospital took no step to arrest Sanjay’s bleeding in the liver. The names of 8-10 accused have been mentioned in the report too. The list includes doctors, medical staff, medical workers and billing staffs. The Phoolbagan police had summoned and interrogated 4 doctors for atleast 2.5 hours on the same day.
Rubi Roy, deceased Sanjay Roy’s wife, demanded for the toughest punishment for the accused.
