Kolkata: The former forward block leader Paresh Adhikari, who joined Trinomool Congress newly has been elected as the TMC district vice-president of Cooch Behar.He has been given this position following the directives of party supremo and Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.
As per Mamata’s directive a core committee was formed with four TMC members in Cooch Behar district TMC office on Wednesday. The North Bengal Development Minister Rabindranath Ghosh has been elected as the chairman. Among the other three members are Forest Minister Binay Krishna Burman, MLA of Dinhata Udayan Guha and MLA Shitalkhuchi Hetan Burman. According to party sources, the core committee has been formed for the organisational development and benefit.
Earlier, the state’s former Food Minister and secretary of Forward Block Cooch Behar district Paresh Adhikari joined TMC. Paresh Adhikari claimed that he had left the Forward Block to oppose dived politics and the NRC issue. On this day, he said that the progress made in the state under the leadership of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has led him to join the party. Paresh Adhikari joined the ruling party in the presence of secretary-general of TMC Partha Chatterjee, North Bengal Development Minister and TMC district president Rabindranath Ghosh, Udayan Guha and Minister Rajiv Banerjee.
In response to Paresh Adhikary’s resignation, Forward Block (FB) state secretary Naren Chatterjee said that his absence in the party will not put any impact on them. Rather, his political conjecture will be evident to the people of the state. And they will teach him proper lesson.
