Kolkata: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee repaid a surprise hospital visit on Tuesday and she seemed to be very annoyed after seeing the infrastructure of the hospital.
Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Tuesday morning paid a surprise visit to Sambhunath Pandit Hospital. The hospital is one of the major government hospitals situated at Elgin Road in South Kolkata. She expressed annoyance at the poor infrastructure and inadequate staff and doctors. She immediately instructed Mayor Sovandeb Chattopadhyay to clean up the place. The CM also asked the hospital super to give more concentration to the patient going through treatments and advised the authorities not to refuse patients with serious conditions.
She used to visit the hospitals unannounced while going to the ‘Nabanna’ after she became the CM. The visits seem to make wonders. Earlier she visited SSKM Hospital and Bangur Institute of Neuroscience.
After a long gap, she visited the hospital without informing anyone in advance. After her instruction, the Calcutta municipality soon after, got down to clear the hospital. The Mayor said that the inside of the hospital belongs to PWD. But since the CM has given the order, the Calcutta Municipality took responsibility for cleanliness.
