Kolkata: Kolkata: West Bengal Chief Minister lashed out at the Centre on Friday at the Trinamool Congress Chatra Parishad (TMCP)’s foundation day rally.
Mamata Banerjee began her speech by thanking all for coming despite the scorching heat. She even paid respects to all the student activists who lost their lives during various movements. She welcomed all teachers, professors, principals of various educational institutions.
Mamata Banerjee said that those who impart education are the biggest assets of the country as well as the world. She directed Partha Chatterjee and Abhishek Banerjee to provide help TMCP to frame their plan of action. She said that, “All politicians are not bad. If 1% people are bad you cannot blame 99% good people. Our students and youths are the future of the country. My foundation in politics was through student politics. Those who emerge from student activism they can never become thieves; they work for people.
Mamata Banerjee said that one can either work for a company or create an institution that creates jobs for lakhs for people. The Government is ready to initiate teachers’ appointment in 65000 vacant positions. She added that few politicians filed case against teachers’ recruitment and are now demanding why teachers are not getting jobs.
Mamata Banerjee even compained about the reign of the left front government. She said that during the Left rule, Kolkata would be waterlogged for days. Now standing water is pumped out after rains within hours. She said, “Students have a huge responsibility. I urge the youth of Bengal not to forget their home State. We are setting up multi super speciality hospitals. We need more doctors. Centre must increase the number of medical seats. All States will be benefited.”
Mamata Banerjee lashed out at the centre. She said that, “Centre has stopped giving us funds. They owe us Rs 1700 Cr under 100 Days’ Work. Centre used to give 90% funds for ICDS. Now they provide only 10% . Centre wants States to provide 40-50% funds for most schemes. But they will name every scheme after PM. Centre’s budget for Beti Bachao scheme is Rs 100 Cr for whole country. Our budget for Kanyashree is Rs 1000 Cr.”
Mamata Banerjee also criticized the central government with its aadhar issue. She said, “Centre wants to make Aadhaar card mandatory. But they have not yet finished registration process.” She also criticized harshly Prime Minister Narendra Modi. She said, “Will Modi buy a new suit with the money he is saving by stopping funds for welfare scheme. They have completely destroyed the country. Delhi babus must not forget State governments are also elected by the people.
Mamata Banerjee also added, “BSF is training separatist elements in the State. Their MP also supports them. What arrogance! They have forgotten humans and are busy with cow census. There is SC order saying Aadhaar is not mandatory. But Centre has stopped scholarships and pensions. People have the final say in a democracy. Centre must not make Aadhaar mandatory for scholarships until 100% registration is over.”
Mamata Banerjee said, “If Centre stops scholarships, student community will protest. Our earning is Rs 40000 Cr but thanks to the CPM, we have to pay debt instalment worth Rs 50000 Cr. We will hit the streets if central interference and debt problem is not solved within 3 months. We strongly condemn the crimes against Dalits and minorities.”
Mamata Banerjee attacked the Congress-CPM alliance too. “Congress has forgotten how to protest. CPM and Congress did not do any work when they were in power. Trinamool does not support Bandhs. We are ready to debate and discuss the grievances of labourers. CPM believes in dadagiri in the name of bandhs. Trinamool will not allow bandh in Bengal. We will ensure normalcy of public life. Govt will compensate the properties damaged during bandhs. We will take stern action against bandh enforcers. Opposition only exists in TV studios. If press stops covering their events, they will give up protests.”
Mamata Banerjee said, “46 new colleges, 300 ITIs and polytechnic colleges are being set up. Skill development training being given to 12 lakh youths every year. We have started online registration for those who want to start a new business. We will bring welfare of students under the ambit of Youth Welfare Department. Students must be involved in mass awareness programmes of the government. We want to change the name of the State for cultural reasons. Our motto is to make Bengal the best in the world. Bangla hobe Biswa Sera.”
