Kolkata: A city based school in Kolkata has accused 10 girls of indulging in homosexuality and is trying to bring the girls on the “right course” on Monday.
The incident came to light after the parents of the accused girls staged a protest against the school.
The parents accused that the authorities of Kamala Girls School in south Kolkata forcibly obtained written admission from the 10 girls.
The parents stormed the office of the acting headmistress and engaged in a verbal duel with her.
The headmistress said that some students have complained against the girls. When the administration confronted the girls, they admitted to it.
The headmistress asked the students to admit it in writing and informed their guardians.
“Some students had complained against 10 students of indulging in such behaviour. We called those students and they admitted it. Considering the sensitive nature of the issue, I asked them to admit it in writing. I have got written admissions from all 10 students,” news agency IANS quoted the acting headmistress as saying.
“Today we called the guardians to apprise them of the issue. Our aim was to discuss the matter with them so that we can bring these girls on the right course through efforts both at home and in school,” the headmistress added.
The guardians, meanwhile, have rubbished the allegation saying that “holding hands, or putting an arm on each other’s shoulders” doesn’t count as homosexuality.
