City Of Joy gets ‘Wi-Fi’ed on Thursday


Kolkata: The City Of Joy is all set to become India’s first Wi-Fi city. As per news, in association with Reliance GIO, the State Government’s initiative to make the city a cyber friendly hub, is ready to take off on Thursday. A few days ago, Mamata Banerjee has made the Kolkata Book fair, a Wi-Fi free zone. Sticking to her commitment towards all Kolkatans, the CM will inaugurate this technologically advanced project at Park Street’s Allen Park on Thursday.

Besides Park Street the adjoining areas of Loudon Street, Rafi Ahmed Kidwai Road, Free School street, Mirza Ghalib street will be able to avail the Wi-Fi. According to sources, this is just a small step towards making the entire city a cyber friendly zone. Within a very short span of time, South Kolkata, namely the areas of Gariahat and Golpark will be made a Wi-Fi free zone.
