Kolkata: A stretch of Circus Avenue will remain closed from Tuesday night for three months for the construction of pillars of the ramp that would connect Parama and AJC Bose Road flyovers.
According to a report by Telegraph a traffic diversion plan has been worked out to minimise snarls and disruptions at the Park Circus seven-point crossing, police said on Saturday. Circus Avenue is the road going towards Beckbagan from Park Circus.
“This was necessary to facilitate the construction of the last leg of the ramp,” said Sumit Kumar, DC, traffic. “We have worked out a diversion plan for small cars and buses for the next two months. We will close the stretch from Tuesday night.”
There are 11 pillars on this stretch of Circus Avenue, which will hold the deck slab of the ramp and merge it with the AJC Bose Road flyover, an official of Hindustan Construction Company that is building the ramp, said.
Work remained stuck on this stretch because of the complicated design that had to be cleared by a specialised agency and to get a nod from Lalbazar to block the road.
