Diamond Harbour: CM Mamata Banerjee has instructed the CID, on Friday, to investigate the murder of ITI student Kaoshik Purkait.
CM Mamata Banerjee has directed that the CID will be taking up the murder case of the ITI student. The CID has been given this huge and important responsibility so that they could investigate the matter impartially. Secondly, the CID gets the opportunity to investigate so that they could find out the prime accused Tapas Mullick’s involvements and a complete investigation against him.
The main accused ,a Panchayat Upa-Pradhan and a TMC leader, Tapas Mullick, was arrested on Thursday night from the Bamungachi area along with his close aide Billu. He will be in the police custody for 13 days as per orders of the Diamond Harbour court.
On May 9, Kaushik had come to his aunt’s house for a visit. He was out on a stroll in the evening when he was mistaken for a cattle lifter and beaten severely. His family came and rescued him and admitted him to the Diamond Harbour district hospital. Later he was transferred to SSKM in Kolkata, where he died on Thursday morning. The missing buffalo was found later.
The furious mob went on a rampage over the lynching of Kaushik. They damaged Tapas Mullick’s house, set it on fire. They even set a stack of hay on fire.
BJP leader Rupa Ganguly visited Kaushik’s mother to console her. “Tapas Mallick and his friends should be hanged… I saw my son die right in front of my eyes,” Kaushik’s mother, Chandra Purkait, said.
