Kolkata: A team of state CID sleuths seized thirty nine litters of foreign liquor from former’s Bharati Ghosh’s many flats in Kolkata on Thursday. According to sources, CID raided over two days and seized fifty seven sealed bottles of Johnnie Walker, Chivas Regal, Officers Choice and Imperial Blue. On other hand, court ordered to lodge fresh case against MAV Raju on the basis of Biswajit Chakraborty’s allegation.
Earlier, After diamond trader, A cow trader of North 24 Parganas was lodged complain at court against former IPS officer Bharati Ghosh and alleged that she had taken forty five lakhs from him.
The trader lodged complain against Bharati Ghosh, former body gurad Sujit Mondal, Kharagpur Local OC Rajsekhar Paine & Sub-Inspector Chironjit Ghosh. So Bharati’s fear of arrest is increasing.
Earlier, businessman Chandan Maji of Daspur lodged complaint and alleged before a court that he was a victim of police extortion. The court directed the CID to investigate.
CID was acting on a court order following a businessman’s complaint against Ghosh and inspector Pradip Rath, whom he accused of extorting a large amount of gold and cash.
Ghosh, who was superintendent of police in the district, resigned on December 28 last year after she was transferred to Barrackpore in the North 24 Parganas as commandant of the third battalion of the state armed police. She could not be contacted for comments despite several attempts.
Senior police officers in West Midnapore said the CID team recovered a huge quantity of cash and gold from the home of Rath, the officer in-charge of Belda police station. Rath allegedly could not give a satisfactory reply when asked to declare the source of the valuables and money. District police officers said Rath won’t be assigned any duty and a case is registered against him.
