Bengaluru: The Karnataka government has ordered a CID probe into the murder of MM Kalburgi who killed by bike borne assailants on Sunday in Dharwad in Karnataka.
Chief Minister Siddaramaiah said, “We have decided to hand over the case to CID. This incident should not have happened. It is highly condemnable.”
Kalburgi (77) was an associate of rationalist Govind Pansare of Kolhapur in Maharashtra who also faced the re of some right-wing Hindu outfits like VHP and Bajrang Dal with his remarks about idol worship by Hindus.
As the waves of resentment strongly spread over the murder of Kalburgi, Bajrang Dal leader Bhuvith Shetty who had tweeted welcoming Kalburgi’s murder and spoke of tageting writer KS Bhagwan next has been booked for criminal indtimidation and promoting enemity.
