Sydney: South Africa beat Sri Lanka by 9 wickets to enter the semi finals after bundling out the Lankans for just 133 runs in the first quarterfinal of the ICC cricket World Cup in Sydney on Wednesday. Winning the toss, Lankan captain Angelo Matthews opted to bat against the Proteas. Not being able to face the burning spell of Steyn and co, Sri Lanka crumbled down to a low total of 133. Sangakkara scored 45 runs in his farewell match and Imran Tahir took 4 wickets for the Proteas and was also adjudged the Man of the Match. JP Duminy claimed the second hattrick of the World Cup after Steven Finn.
On the other hand, South Africa created a record by winning their first game in the knock out stage of a World Cup. They reached the target in 18 overs and won the match by 9 wickets. By the virtue of this win, South Africa advanced to the Semi final of the tournament.
