China backs India’s permanent Membership demand

Beijing: China on Thursday issued a statement saying that it respected the aspirations of India and Brazil to play a more important role in the functioning of the UN Security Council.

Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Hua Chunying said that China respects India and Brazil’s application for become a permanent member of the Security Council.

IN a joint statement Indian Foreign Minister Sushma Swaraj said, “Foreign Ministers of China and Russia reiterated the importance they attached to the status of India in international affairs and supported its aspiration to play a greater role in the United Nations.”
