New Delhi: In a shocking incident, a Hyderabad man was killed in a fight over a chicken dish at an engagement ceremony on Monday. An argument that began over a chicken dish at an engagement function led to one person being stabbed to death and another one suffering injuries here in the wee hours of Monday.
The incident took place at around 1:30 PM at a function hall in Hussaini Alam area near the Charminar. An argument broke out between two groups at the dining table and a couple of guests felt insulted as chicken curry was being served late. They were also offended by each other’s reactions and comments.
The victim, Anwar alias Anup (28), a resident of Jamia Nizamia, was attending to guests who came to have food. However, chicken was soon over, and one of the guests objected to this.
Anwar interfered and tried to calm him down. However the suspect, identified as Ahswath Ali Khan (25) a resident of Kalapathar, was not ready to calm down and made comments on Anwar and the other family members.
Post that, the group returned with 15 people, some of whom were armed with knives. Them they attacked the hosts resulting the death of a boy named Anwar on the spot. Another youth, identified as Sohail, was injured and was rushed to a hospital.
A case has been booked and search is on for more from Khan’s group, who are absconding. The attackers also allegedly entered the women’s section in the hall, leading to more panic. Police have taken three accused into custody in connection to the case so far and are looking for others.
