Tamluk: Chaos spread at East Midnapore over the creation of Panchayat boards after Supreme Court’s verdict on Friday. The incident occurred at Talgachari number 1 gram panchayat under the Ramnagar police station and Mahishadal block’s Natsha number 2 gram panchayat. A clash broke out between the CPM-TMC workers. The police rushed to
the area and brought the situation under control.
The process for the setting up of board in Gram Panchayat at Talgachari began on Friday. First a quarrel ensued and then clash broke out between the ruling party and the opposition. 93 seats fall under this Panchayat out of which 6 are fro TMC, 4 for BJP, 1 for CPM and 2 seats for independent candidates.
The BJP claimed that all the oppositions are supporting them on the issue. They also said that the winning candidates of the opposition parties came to Ramnagar BDO office to participate in the setting up of Panchayat board. At that time, the BJP workers got beaten allegedly by the TMC workers. Many BJP workers got injured on this issue.
TMC MLA of Ramnagar Akhil Giri said that red chilli powder was thrown in his eyes. Also those who did not win also tried entering the office by force. They were attacked when they tried to protest.
The Ramnagar police rushed to the area along with a huge police force and brought the situation under control.
On the other hand, clash broke out at Natshal under the Mahishadal gram panchayat over who will become the head of the panchayat.
