Chaos In Calcutta University, TMCP Denies Role


Kolkata: In an interesting turn of the event the alleged perpetrators of the Calcutta University chaos on Wednesday; Trinamool’s student wing TMCP refuted allegations and said no member or leader of the orgonisation is involved in the incident.

TMCP made the declaration after having a meet with education minister Partha Chatterjee at Bikas Bhavan on Friday. TMC faced flak from various circle after TMCP members heckled teachers and staff of the Calcutta University on Wednesday.

An eight member team of TMCP headed by Saurav Adhikary and Ashok Rudra had an hour long conversation with Partha. Sources told that the minister was furious as the incident drew criticism from various circle. Partha said tht he will hold a meeting with the VC on Monday to restore normalcy in the institute.

Incidentally, Saurav Adhikary and Ashok Rudra were alleged to be have fanned the incident.

On the other hand members of WBCUPA met VC of Calcutta University Suranjan Das and requested him to restore normalcy. WBCUPA secretary Krishnakali Basu accused that outsiders were roped in with political interest leading to the degradation of the institute.

Vice Chancellor Suranjan Das on Friday urged state government to ake action against the assault of professors allegedly by Trinamool Chhatra Parishad activists, stating that it would be tough for him to act as the VC, if action was not taken on the basis of his report.

It is to be noted that TMCP followers have allegedly hackled WBCUTA members who were staging a protest at the University campus demanding the reinstatement of finance officer Harisadhan Ghosh.

Harisadhan Ghosh has been suspended over charges of misappropriating 786 crore rupees from the university fund.
