Kolkata: Chaos sparked in the Legislative Assembly over the remarks made by opposition leader Abdul Mannan against Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Thursday.
Chaos spread in the assembly after Abdul Mannan made several derogatory comments against Mamata Banerjee. Mannan said that the chief minister has the talent of wearing several masks. One strike of her would gain atleast 10 lakhs. He even called the CM a liar. He compared Mamata to a bird called Moyna, and said that Kalighat’s Moyna does not speak the truth. Mannan even accused Mamata of not fulfilling a single promise she made regarding jobs for the youths of Bengal.
These derogatory comments received immediate protests. Two MLAs broke into fist-fights. TMC MLA Manas Majumder and Congress MLA Manoj Chakroborty got involved into fist-fights. Sports Minister Aroop Biswas intervened and tried to bring the situation under control.
Not only did the MLAs from both sides got into fights with each other, TMC MLA Suvendu Adhikari from Nandigram constituency advanced towards CPM MLA Sujan Chakraborty. On the other hand, Manas Majumder advanced towards Abdul Mannan.
Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee strongly criticized and protested for making such derogatory comments. She said that they were not present in the BJP, but were present in the NDA. If anyone needs to say anything then they must speak with complete information. She also said that none could just call anyone thief or dacoits without reason. She even attacked by saying that in that case, are they themselves priests of Mahabharat. She also attacked the Congress-CPM alliance and said that in their attempt for an alliance to oust TMC from power, they themselves have led their party to become powerless.
