Kolkata: Chandra Kumar Bose, the grandnephew of freedom fighter Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose on Saturday, lauded Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s attitude towards declassification of Netaji’s files.
He said that the PM has promised him to deal with the issue jointly. Kumar Bose further said that the Prime Minister has promised his full support in the issue.
“Prime Minister Modi clearly stated that if it is the people’s demand, it is the responsibility of the government to resolve this issue. Just couple of meetings will not resolve this crisis. We have to do it together and work together. All the Netaji researchers, the family and the government representatives have to sit together to take this issue forward and Modi will give his full support,” he added.
Earlier, two recently declassified Information Bureau files had revealed that the the Jawaharlal Nehru-led government had order surveillance on Netaji’s kin between 1948 and 1968. The files reveal that the IB had resumed British-era surveillance on the two Bose family homes in Calcutta at Woodburn Park and Elgin Road.
