Nadia: The 2018 Panchayat elections will be a key test for the BJP in West Bengal, ahead of the 2019 Lok Sabha elections. Prior to the Panchayat polls State has witnessed an internal party conflict in Trinamool Congress. And State BJP leader Mukul Roy is now trying to utilize the internal party clash of TMC on his favour. Hence, the new Chanakya of Bengal politics Mukul Roy has started his own strategy of ‘divide and rule policy’ ahead of the rural polls.
Reportedly,the distribution of Panchayat poll tickets have triggered a clash among the members of TMC. In Nadia a large number of old TMC leaders have expressed their anger on the leadership of the ruling party,after they were ignored during the ticket distribution of rural polls. This issue has emerged as a trump card for Mukul and now he’s desperately trying to pull them on his side.
As per sources,recently Mukul Roy had a long secret meeting with a former TMC MLA. Several Councillors and grassroot leaders of TMC were also present at this meeting. It is said that the meeting continued for a long duration.Although nobody have said anything on this matter.
There is no information given by BJP on this issue. However, sources said that Mukul Roy had said the TMC leaders in this meeting to withstand this turmoil and wait for the right time to arrive.
