Centre sends rice to contain Tripura food crisis

Kolkata: An Indian freight ship carrying one thousand matric tone of rice reached Asuganj port of Bangladesh on Saturday, which will be delivered to Tripura from Tuesday, as per the government’s initiative to curve the food crisis in Tripura.

Tripura is currently facing an acute food crisis owing to the closure of Lunding-Agartala rail route. Sourabh Nukherjee, zonal manager of FCI told that so far 7 thousand metric ton of rice has been delivered and further shipments comprising a total of 35 thousand metric ton of rice will be delivered.
