Kolkata: The Bengal chief minister has instructed the chief secretary to write to the Centre protesting against a pretended move to shift the headquarters of the Damodar Valley Corporation from the state to Jharkhand, said sources.
Sources at Nabanna said the DVC had taken a resolution at a board meeting to shift the headquarters from Calcutta.
However, DVC sources said there was no official communication from the central government or any resolution at the board on moving the headquarters. They have said the Bengal government is a stakeholder in the DVC and could raise objection if such a proposal is put in place.
According to a source, chief minister Mamata Banerjee views the alleged move as yet another attempt by the Centre to “corner” Bengal. “Chief secretary Malay De is sending a letter,” the source said.
