More celebs in Modi’s Swach Bharat chain


Hyderabad:Former Indian cricketer VVS Laxman, badminton national coach Pullela Gopichand, chess player Koneru Humpy, singer Balu Subhramanyam has been appointed as brand ambassadors of Swach Bharat campaign.

Union Urban Development Minister M Venkaiah naidu made the formal announcement at an event in Hyderabad. Other personalities who have also been nominated include MPs Jayadev Galla of Telegu Desham Party and K Kavitha of Telengana Rashtra Samity. Corporate personalities like BVR Mohan Reddy, Rameswar Rao and Dr. Gopichand and GS Rao from the medical field. The list also includes lyricist Ashok Teja, media personality Vemuri Radhakrishna and Telegu actor Nitin.

Naidu said that BCCI interim President Shivlal Yadav will also join as brand ambassador. Attending the event Laxman said that the mission is a success.

Speaking on the occasion he said, “Sometimes, we take it for granted. It’s a change in mindset which we require. As ambassador for this, I will look forward to spreading awareness and helping the local authorities.”

Naidu also said that he would like to nominate important personalities in every as brand ambassadors for their respective states.
