Burdwan: Four junior doctors at Burdwan Medical College and Hospital were injured and two of them were seriously injured when a chunk of the ceiling in a classroom collapsed on them on Thursday.
According to college sources, Dr Somnath Dasgupta was taking a class at new building’s seminar hall. Thirty junior doctors were presented at that time. The class was about the treatment of Nurman Ali, a resident of Atashpur of Bhatar Police Station. Nurman was hospitalized last week with chest pains.
During this discussion, suddenly a chunk of the ceiling in a classroom collapsed on them. Four junior doctors were injured in this incident. Among them, Sattaki Roy and Sanjay Sen were injured seriously.
They were admitted to the hospital’s emergency department. Doctors have said that they are out of danger now. But such an incident spreads panic at the hospital premises. The junior doctors demonstrated in the hospital superintendent’s office, demanding that the building be repaired immediately.
Deputy Superintendent of the hospital Amitav Saha solved the problems after discussions between the two sides. Junior doctors withdrew their decisions to stop work. The Superintendent of the hospital said, the incident was really very unfortunate. After this incident, the superintendent of the hospital Amitabh Saha visited the spot.
